2010 Ford Mondeo comes with improved engine range and equipment
2010 Ford Mondeo comes with better fuel economy, lower emissions and improved performance mostly thanks to high efficiency Ford EcoBoost petrol-injection turbo and upgraded Ford Duratorq TDCi diesel engines now available for sale.
The newly developed 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine delivers 203PS and the significantly improved 2.0-litre TDCi diesels with 115, 140 and an impressive 163PS version.
Furthermore, the car features Ford PowerShift – six-speed dual-clutch transmission system, which delivers smooth and fast gear change. Currently, Ford Mondeo has a leading position within its segment and now it is secured with the enhancements.
"These new powertrains are responsive and refined – ideally suited to Mondeo's acclaimed driving enjoyment, yet without sacrificing economy or CO2 performance.", commented Jon Gunn-Smith, Ford large cars product manager.
The 2.0-litre EcoBoost has an advanced combustion system which brings new levels of performance and fuel efficiency to petrol units in this power range. The power unit features lightweight all-aluminium construction, a high-pressure direct-injection system, low-inertia turbocharging and twin-independent variable cam timing.
The result is maximum power of 203 PS at 5 500rpm and maximum torque of 300 Nm delivered across a 1 750 – 4 500rpm range. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and top speed of 232 mph (144 mph). The fuel efficiency is amazing - 36.6mpg and average CO2 emission of just 179g/km.
There are three diesel powered engines in the range. The choice is between – 115, 140 and 163PS all delivered by the improved 2.0-litre Ford Duratorq TDCi. The engine meets Stage V emission regulations. It features new solenoid fuel injectors, now with eight smaller holes, a maximum injection pressure of 2 000 bar for improved fuel atomization. Ford Duratorq TDCi delivers staggering fuel consumption - 53.2mpg and an average CO2 emission of 139g/km.
Last, Ford PowerShift system is six-speed, double-wet-clutch transmission, which is an excellent match for both the new Ford EcoBoost petrol direct-injection and Ford Duratorq TDCi common-rail diesel engines. PowerShift comes as standard with the new 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine and as an option for both 140 and 163PS 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi units.
