Stowed in a special section behind the rear panel, the waterproof and windproof, 23.5 mm thick soft top can be opened and closed fully within 20 seconds at speeds of up to 40 km/h. The new CLK convertible substitute is available with different power units, which excels in efficiency and performance.

The new soft-top model is further fitted with an innovative system that greatly reduces the turbulence in the interior of the new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet, creating a sea of warm air. Named AIRCAP®, the new two-components system is functional, comfort-enhancing, elegant and safe at the same time. It creates elevation of the free flow above the interior, increases the basic pressure and reduces the backflow of the newcomer.
The new convertible also benefits from many safety innovations like the roll-over protection, A-pillars reinforced by two additional tubes , plug-in B pillars and headbags.
