Ford Focus RS500 - performance at the highest level
Surprisingly, Ford has announced an exclusive ultra-potent, visually-stunning, limited-edition Focus RS, which carries the badge Ford Focus RS500. As the name suggests, the newly styled performance orientated ride is strictly limited to only 500 units worldwide. Its global public premiere is scheduled for the 2010 Leipzig Motor Show in Germany on April 9.
The limited-edition Ford Focus RS500 is powered by a specially revised version of the 305 PS 5-cylinder turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5-litre power unit from the standard Focus RS, which now delivers 15 per cent higher output figures – 350 PS at 6,000 rpm and 460 Nm of maximum torque across the broad speed range from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. Thanks to these strengthened numbers, the sporty ride is capable to cover the classic zero to 100 km/h acceleration sprint in only 5.6 seconds, before reaching a V-max of 265 km/h.
On the outside, the vehicle is just fascinating, it is a perfect mixture between the magnetism and character of the stock Focus RS' sporty bodywork and the uniqueness and sophistication of the matt black shade. Moreover, its exterior packs astonishing metallic black alloy rims, glossy trapezoidal lower front grille and splitter, twin-blade rear spoiler and rear venturi, which manages the powerful airflow beneath the rear of the sporty beast. Small gleams of colour around the limited ride's body – including red brake calipers, blue RS badges, and special blue and red RS500 badge on the tailgate – further underlines its stunning appearance.
Inside the cabin, the styling specialists at Ford have also fitted the ride with unique elements. It features individually-numbered metal plaque, unique carbon-effect finished bezel, Recaro front seats, and a special red colour scheme.
