2011 Porsche Cayenne Diesel will hit the US market
The diesel powered cars aren't very popular in the United States. The first reason is the cheap gasoline, especially in some states. For example, a liter gasoline in the United States is around $0.60 (less than 0.50 Euro) and a liter gasoline in Germany is around 1.50 Euro, so you make the maths. That is the main reason for everybody in the US to drive enormous V8 engines and dont care about the environment and fuel consumption.
The second reason is that the diesel fuel is not so common in the US. There is diesel at almost every gas station in Europe.
However, recently the Americans have started to take care about the nature, so they pay attention to their fuel consumption and everybody knows that the diesel powered cars are very economical and nowadays – very clean.
Because of the last reason, Porsche will start to sale diesel powered Cayenne in the United States.
Firstly, the American division was not interested in this idea, but now the possibility is being considered by its officials.
Porsche Cayenne Diesel will be a direct rival to the Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen on the SUV market.
The EU version of 2011 Porsche Cayenne Diesel is powered by 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel with 240hp at 4400rpm and 550Nm at just 2000rpm. The top speed of the SUV is 218km/h and the acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is satisfying – 7.8s. The fuel consumption is just amazing for a vehicle, which measures over 2100kg. Porsche Cayenne Diesel achieves 8.7 liters per 100km city cycle, 6.6 liters on the highway and 7.4 liters combined cycle.
