2011 Volkswagen Polo GTI revealed
It turns out that the revised 2011 Volkswagen Touareg is not the only surprise, which the renowned German manufacturer has scheduled for the 80th edition of Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. At the renowned occasion VW will also celebrate the public reveal of the new 2011 Volkswagen Polo GTI.
Outside, the styling appearance of the newcomer is distinguished by few significant imrovements: restyled front bumper with deeper airdam, honeycombe grille design and horizontal red stripes, new headlight units with optionional LED lights, new rear bumper with small diffuser and a pair of chrome-tipped exhausts. Furthermore, a set of 17-inch alloys inspired by the Golf GTI ones are fitted along with a set of red brake callipers.
Under the sleek sporty appeal of the new Polo GTI, the engineers at VW have mounted a supercharged 1.4-litre TSI engine that renders output of 180 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 184 lbs ft of torque. Mated to a compact seven-speed, twin-clutch DSG gearbox, the hot hatch records an acceleration time of 6.9 seconds for the zero to 62 mph sprint and V-max of 142 mph. For sharper and greater handling qualities, the compact ride also benefits from a XDS differential, electronic cross-axle traction control unit and new springs and dampers, which lower the chassis with 15 mm.
In the terms of interior design, the car is fitted with refined dials, a new, flat-bottomed GTI steering wheel with small gearshift paddles and contrasting red stitching, aluminium pedals and amazingly comfortable front sports seats finished in tartan trim. Subtle gloss black trim covers the centre console while the headlining is now finished in black.
