2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS strikes ahead of Paris 2010
The originator of the young, but extremely exclusive car category ‘four-door coupe' – Mercedes-Benz - has officially revealed the face of its new generation "coupe with the comfort and functionality of a saloon", the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS. The ultra-sleek ride will celebrate its staggering premiere at the upcoming Paris Motor Show 2010.
Professor Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz, shares with delight: "The new CLS points the way forward for the future perceptible design idiom of Mercedes-Benz. At the same time it takes its inspiration from the great tradition of stylish, refined sportiness which has always been a feature of Mercedes coupes."
The outer styling of the newly shaped vehicle is just dazzling, it excels at long bonnet, narrow-look windows with frameless side windows, dynamic roof sweeping back at an angle towards the rear. At the front end, the next-generation CLS highlights design reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, packing a radiator grille that is not integrated into the bonnet but is formed separately. Another unmistakable element of the exterior styling is the ride's full LED headlamps, which are the world's first to offer all of the regular dynamic light functions using LED technology. This innovative approach features a total of 71 LEDs, which not only delivers an amazing appearance, but also improve significantly the view of the road compared with previous systems.
Inside the high-end 2012 CLS, an ambience of pure luxury welcomes the passengers. Achieved through innovative materials - high-gloss metal surfaces, matt galvanized surfaces and premium leathers - the interior of the luxurious vehicle boasts modern and elegant styling.
The official powertrains specs are still mystery, but from Mercedes-Benz are promising to reveal them few days before the show in Paris.
