The first BMW X5 was introduced in 1999, it's code is E53. Since it was put on sale, the big SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle) became an instant hit. X5 was better in every single point compared to the direct rival – Mercedes-Benz ML. The BMW had better engines, better handling, more aggressive look and it was also better off the road. Because of all these good aspects, BMW didn't wait too much and refreshed the X5 at 2003 with the introduction of the xDrive – one of the best four wheel-drive systems in the world. With the facelift, X5 also got more powerful engines and minor style changes.

The all new model, which appeared 2007 has the code E70. It grew on size, so now it is available with third row seating, but that is not everything. This SAV is entirely new, like the BMW code prompts. The exterior is much different from the previous model, so not only the style is more beautiful and in the same time aggressive, but the drag coefficient got better. The BMW X5 E70 feels completely different, like it is. The engine range is just amazing – from 3.0 litre diesel with 231hp to 4.4 litre petrol V8 with two turbochargers, which delivers the stunning 555hp.

The X line-up consist BMW X3 – E83, BMW X5  - E70 and BMW X6 - E71/2 and it will be reinforced by the all new BMW X1.

There are 10 years since the first X5 was put on sale, so BMW offers special edition of the SAV.

The engine for the anniversary model is the well known 3.0 litre diesel with two cascade turbo chargers, which develops 286hp boosting the X5 from 0-100km/h for 7.0 seconds and the top speed is 235km/h.

The BMW xDrive35d 10-Year Edition will be in Sophisto Grey metallic paint. The SAV also will get  Matt Aluminium exterior trim, Matt Aluminium roof rails, Panoramic glass sunroof and Comfort Access. Inside, and Comfort seats, Anthracite headlining, Carrara Shades Nappa leather upholstery and BMW Individual Piano Black trim are just some of the product highlights. ‘10-Year' plaques are fitted to the front doors, front door sill plates and on the dashboard to underscore the merit of the vehicle. On the top of that, the unique 20-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels will complete the picture of the Anniversary model.

The 10-Year Edition will be limited to only 2000 X5s and it will be priced from £53,075.
