2012 Audi A6
The newest A6 is officially unveiled by Audi. The car is much similar than the previous model except it proportions. 2012 Audi A6 is slightly shorter, but it has stretched wheelbase - 2910mm long for better comfort.
The new car boasts 16" alloy wheels, LED taillights, trunk-lid spoiler, a dual exhaust system, and optional LED headlights. However, the S-Line package adds modified bumpers, a sport suspension, a faux rear diffuser, and 19" alloys.
The interior is practically the same as A7 - an automatic climate control, MMI, a 6.5" monitor, and "micrometallic platinum" trim - aluminum and wood are optional.
Bang & Olufsen offer a 1 300 watt sound system, internet connectivity, MMI navigation plus - 8" monitor and MMI touch, and individual rear seats.
The technologies are superb in the 2012 A6. The safety is at extremely high level and features adaptive cruise control, active lane assist, parking assist, side assist, and night vision assist with pedestrian detection.
There will be five engines at launch of the car.
First is 2.0 TDI with 177PS (130 kW) and 380Nm (280 lb-ft), which averages 4.9L/100km (48mpg) and 129 g/km of CO2. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and tops 228 km/h (142 mph).
The second is 3.0 TDI V6 with 204PS (150 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and the top speed is 240km/h (149 mph). However, the fuel consumption is just 5.2L/100km and CO2 emissions are 137 g/km.
There is more powerful version of the 3.0TDI with 245PS (180 kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) - 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and the top speed is is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The fuel consumption is extremely low for such mighty engine - 6.0L/100km and CO2 emissions are 158 g/km.
The petrol range features 2.8 FSI V6 with 204PS (150 kW) and 280Nm (207 lb-ft). The gearbox is a multitronic transmission and allows the A6 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph). It consumptions 7.4L/100 km (32 mpg) and emits 172g/km of CO2.
The 3.0 TFSI V6 delivers whopping 300PS (220 kW) and 440Nm (325 lb-ft). The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is covered in 5.5 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). It needs 8.2 L/100 km (27 US mpg) and emits 190 g/km of CO2.
The transmission choices are: 6-speed manual, multitronic CVT, and the 7-speed S tronic.
2012 Audi A6 will be available to buy in the beginning of next year for €38 500 in Germany.
