Dennis Distribution, formerly known as T & A Dennis, based in Malton, North Yorkshire, has taken delivery of a Volvo FH-480 tractor unit featuring a unique metallic black and gold livery to commemorate their 50th Anniversary.

Richard Dale, Transport Manager and a Partner in the business said, "Volvo's driver appeal is good, they're a good-looking modern truck. Operating Volvo's has helped us attract and retain a better quality of driver."

Says Richard, "We wanted trucks that look good with the reefer trailers and that support our position as an established supplier in the premium chilled and frozen distribution sector. We get less downtime with Volvo and the whole package is supported by expertise and people who know what they're talking about. The drivers want more space, which they get with the XL cab and I wanted the reliability that you get with a Volvo."

The truck was supplied by Crossroads Truck and Bus at Boroughbridge, but Richard adds, "Crossroads' service is good and their Tadcaster depot is only 30 minutes away and on our main route out to our customers. They're flexible, night or day, which suits our 24/7 operation."

He concluded, "The Volvo I-Shift is the best thing - ever. We're getting between 8.5 and 9 mpg on average as it's so simple that a driver only needs 5 to 10 minutes training. It's so driver-friendly, that it makes the job easier."

Dennis Distribution supplies a number of customers mainly within the meat and meat processing industry. The trucks are single shifted and cover up to 100,000 miles per year.
