Volkswagen Up priced
Volkswagen has revealed its plans to showcase a production variant of its newly presented Up minicar at the next year's Frankfurt Auto Show. According to the renowned German auto maker, the ultra compact ride will hit the market at the end of 2011 with a starting price tag of approximately 10,000 Euro.
The first version of the VW Up model will be a three-door four-seater and will be offered with a range of three-cylinder gasoline and diesel power units.
Ulrich Hackenberg, development chief at VW shared: "The final prototype phase is currently taking place for the Up. So we will be able to start building near-production cars soon."
When asked if the Up would get a two-cylinder engine like the one Fiat has launched in the 500 minicar, Hackenberg simply said: "That is a beautiful engine as well."
The Volkswagen Up will be produced at the brand's factory in Bratislava, Slovakia.
